Fuller wins Ipswich Open

Date: May 20th 2018

Alex Fuller from South Africa has won the Christchurch Veterinary Surgery Ipswich Open defeating Lucy Turmel 3-0 in Sunday's final. Alex was top seed and looked strong all week, coming into the event on the back of a trio of PSA titles from as far apart as Bermuda and Cape Town as well as a very strong showing in the British Open. Lucy was 2nd seed - a long way from her wildcard entry in last year's event - and she was doubtless a little jaded after her 65min semi on Saturday. That semi victory was a milestone too - this year's European Junior Champion winning 3-2 over last year's European Junior Champion!

The event was a big success with a strong overseas entry - in fact Lucy was the only English player to make the semi finals. All the details of the event including full results and daily reports are here. The CLub is very grateful to all the event sponsors - Christchurch Vets, Penn Commercial and Adnams - without whom it would be impossible to hold such prestigious events at the Club.
